Seikoro

Founded in 1831, but the main building was opened in 1901 and the annexe in 1964; choose the former for a sense of old Kyoto. The rooms come in various designs; one has a gotenjo and a fusuma-e featuring a depiction of a flower carriage, and another a view of a moss-covered garden. The renovated Japanese/Western hybrid rooms have beds. The large communal baths are made of umbrella pine. Exquisitely designed facilities and handicrafts add to the appeal.
