Gion Matayoshi

Dishes are served in the spirit of chakaiseki, and with various creative touches added. In the summer, green pea surinagashi, grilled hamo and thin noodles are placed in a bowl made of ice. In the winter, there is steamed sakamushi-style crab. Dishes such as these are a treat to the eyes as well. The elaborately prepared hassun is also a sight to see. The shuko, prepared according to the five flavours, five colours and five basic methods of traditional Japanese cooking, offers a variety of tastes.
